Drama can support children's learning and development through:
- embedding real purposes and audiences for English across the curriculum
- curriculum implementation to allow ‘pupils to transfer key knowledge to long-term memory…’ (para.181)
- linking new and existing knowledge ‘develop fluency and unconsciously apply their knowledge as skills…’ (para.182)
- enquiry-based learning using visual, verbal, kinaesthetic and emotional experiences in different combinations (dual coding)
- concrete opportunities for learners to practise applying their knowledge as skills
- behaviour and attitudes – to listen, question, think, contribute and collaborate in various contexts
- the personal development of pupils including citizenship, British Values, diversity, character education, resilience, mental health, RSE
-
engaging children in meaningful exploration of Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Education (SMSC)
