Spotlight on: Role-on-the-Wall
Sparks for using this technique
Role-on-the-Wall asks participants to infer and deduce ideas about character and to place them on an outline.
A large displayed outline can provide a visually dramatic or theatrical ‘presence’ of the character.
Role-on-the-Wall can be used to frame foci in several ways e.g., different points of view.
Top Tip!
By using different colours or sticky notes, we can track and change our minds as more is revealed about a character.
Tracking how a character changes is also a great way in for teaching identification of themes.
